Is smoking allowed at GPRMC?
On September 10, 2007, GPRMC implemented a Tobacco Free Campus. Smoking is not allowed in any of the GPRMC facilities or on any owned or leased property. Smoking cessation information through GPRMC employees by calling 308-696-7536 or 1-800-662-0011 and ask for the Education Department.

How do I contact the Lost and Found?
If any of your personal items are lost or misplaced, please call the Volunteer Office, 308-696-8000 Ext. 7475 or 308-696-7475.

Can I send mail to a patient?
Volunteers deliver mail to patient rooms daily, Monday - Saturday. Please address the patient name and mail to Great Plains Regional Medical Center, 601 W. Leota, PO Box 1167, North Platte, NE 69103.

Can I receive spiritual care during my stay?
Area clergy and our hospital chaplain provide spiritual care. When you are admitted to the hospital, you will be asked if you want your name listed in the reference file used by area clergy. Our hospital chaplain is also available to you and your family. A visit from the chaplain can be arranged through your nurse or by calling the hospital operator.

Is there an automated teller machine at the hospital?
For your convenience, an automated teller machine is available in the atrium on the main level.

What are the visitation hours and rules?
General visiting hours are 8 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Only two visitors at a time, please. Loud talking in patient rooms or patient areas is prohibited.

1) Groups of visitors are asked to wait in the main lobby. There are special waiting rooms for surgery and obstetrics.

2) Do not leave children unattended in a waiting area. There are waiting areas on each floor where ambulatory patients may go to visit. Children may be taken to those areas, if given permission.

Do you have a gift shop where I can purchase a gift for a patient?
The gift shop, located in the atrium offers a wide selection of gifts, flowers, cards, magazines, candy, plush animals, and toys. The gift shop is open from 9 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Hours on Saturdays depending on volunteer availability. Call 308-696-8609 or 866-930-GIFT(4438).

How can I get my medical record?
Medical records can be obtained in the Health Information Management (HIM) department during the hours of 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. The telephone number for the HIM department is 308-696-7440.

Are there security personnel on duty at GPRMC?
Security personnel are available at all times at GRPMC. Call the hospital operator to contact security.

How can I become a hospital volunteer?
Call the Volunteer Services office at 308-696-7475.

You must be at least 18 years old to serve as an adult volunteer and 14 years old to serve as a junior volunteer.

Can I bring my medication from home?
State and federal regulations require that medications be administered by a nurse and dispensed from the GPRMC Pharmacy. Please bring all medications (including herbal and over the counter) that you take regularly and give them to your nurse upon arrival. They will be returned upon dismissal.

Are discounts offered for families needing motel accommodations and meals?
A number of North Platte motels and restaurants have graciously agreed to offer discounts to you and your family while you are receiving care at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. You may ask your caregiver about the Hospitality Card and listing of participating businesses.

There are several local and national support groups available to you. Please contact 308-696-7498 for information and contacts or look here in the web-site under Health Info.

What are the cafeteria hours?
The LUNCHBOX Cafe hours and Location

Our LUNCHBOX Cafe is open throughout the day to serve patient family members and visitors, as well as staff.
Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday Hours
Breakfast 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM
Lunch 11AM to 2 PM

The Cafe is on the first floor of the hospital, at the east end. As you come through the main entrance, take a right down the first hallway and continue east toward the cafeteria. Click here to view

Cafe Services
Services in the LUNCHBOX Cafe include: soups, salads, grill items or something off the hot entree lines. A full line-up of hot or cold beverages is also available.

How do I contact a Behavioral Health patient?
We are unable to confirm or deny that a patient is in the Behavioral Health Unit unless the patient has given us permission by way of a listing of phone calls and visitors that they will accept. It is advised that you first try contacting the patient's family or friends.
