MRI and Mammography: A Powerful Combination
The Mammography section at Great Plains is unique to the area, consisting of two Mammography suites and a Stereotactic Core Breast Biopsy suite. The hospital also offers diagnostic mammography, which is used when a physician decides that a screening mammogram needs further evaluation or if a patient has abnormal clinical findings, such as a breast lump, nipple discharge, or thickening of breast tissue. MRI breast imaging is very helpful in evaluating breast lesions, implants, and very dense breasts when used in conjunction with a mammography. With the American Cancer Society now recommending an annual breast MRI in addition to a mammogram, Great Plains is pleased to have these two technologies available to its women patients.
