Offering You More with Less Invasive Surgery
At Great Plains Regional Medical Center, we offer numerous general surgical procedures using a minimally invasive technique. In these procedures, surgeons use smaller instruments than in traditional open surgeries. That means smaller incisions, less scarring, and quicker recovery times. Other benefits of these laparoscopic procedures include:
Bariatric Weight Loss Program Leading to Healthier Lives
The Bariatric Weight Loss Program at Great Plains Regional Medical Center started in 2010 to help those with severe weight issues live longer, healthier lives. Surgical options we offer with this program include:
We provide a pre-operative workup with this program that covers nutritional, exercise, and lifestyle education. We see approximately three to four cases a week, with 20-30 patients going through the pre-operative workup at any given time. With about 60 percent of the U.S. population overweight, we are committed to offering this program to improve the health of our patients.
A Team Approach to Caring for You
Our multidisciplinary approach to care involves a collaborative staff who interact well with one another, all for the benefit of the patient. Our surgeons partner with other departments in the hospital when caring for our patients, using a collaborative electronic charting system that leads to more efficient and safer care for you.
Likewise, we also partner with primary care providers in the community so that your main caregivers are all up to date on the care you’re receiving.
The other members in our team approach to care are you and your family. We encourage you and your relatives to be educated about all aspects of your surgical procedure and involved in the decision-making process when it comes to your care. We feel that teaming up together in this way helps us all attain our ultimate goal—the smoothest recovery possible for you.
