Annual Convention in Lincoln, Neb.

Lincoln, Neb. On October 19, Great Plains Regional Medical Center Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Scott Lucas, was recognized with the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) most prestigious award, Caring Kind, for outstanding health care employees during the 2012 NHA Annual Convention in Lincoln.

The annual award is presented to health care employees who have demonstrated compassion for patients, cooperation with co-workers and dedication to excellence in their job responsibilities. Each year, hospitals across the state select one recipient from within their respective institutions to be recognized for this award. This year, the Caring Kind award was given to 70 hospital employees throughout the state.

“Scott has always exhibited a patient-first attitude and works hard to make sure all patients are comfortable here at the hospital,” said Mel McNea, chief operating officer. “We appreciate Scott’s willingness to provide assistance wherever it is needed at Great Plains Regional Medical Center and are delighted he has received this recognition.”

Scott Lucas has been employed by Great Plains Regional Medical Center for 23 years, and serves as radiation safety officer and chair of the Radiation Safety Committee.

According to McNea, Scott is often acknowledged in patient satisfaction surveys for the care and consideration he provides to diagnostic imaging/nuclear medicine patients. He serves on the All Hazards Committee, Hazardous Materials Committee, Environmental Safety Committee and Medication Safety Committee.

“Caring Kind recipients model the dedication and commitment that exemplifies why healthcare in Nebraska continues to be among the best in the nation,” said NHA President, Laura J. Redoutey, FACHE. “NHA is proud to recognize outstanding healthcare workers who have made a tremendous difference in their communities, their institutions and the lives of their patients.”

Scott joins more than 2,000 individuals that have received the award since its establishment in 1979.
