Your medical record is a compilation of pertinent facts of your health
history, including past and present illnesses and treatments, written by the
health care professionals contributing to your care.
It includes all inpatient, outpatient, emergency and clinic records. As a
patient at Great Plains Regional Medical Center, you are assigned a medical
record unit number (MRUN) on your first visit to our facility. This number is
retained for all subsequent services and all of your records are maintained in a
unit record in the Health Information Management department.
Ownership of Your Medical Record
Your medical record is the property
of Great Plains Regional Medical Center and shall be maintained to serve you,
the patient. Physicians and other health care providers who are involved in your
care and treatment utilize it.
As a patient, the information contained in your medical
record belongs to you. You are entitled to the protected right of information
and Great Plains Regional Medical Center maintains your records in accordance
with legal, accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.
