Welcoming a new person into the world is one of the most remarkable and fantastic experiences we get to enjoy in life. Our goal at the Women's Center is to make this process as smooth and enjoyable as possible for everyone involved.
When the time comes you want to be ready. After all, your new baby will dictate your schedule! Being prepared means having your paperwork complete, knowing what to expect, preparing yourself physically and mentally for the big event and making sure your family understands what to do and how they can be supportive.
We offer several resources to make sure your focus is on what's most important:
- First Steps. During this one-hour pre-registration appointment, you and your support partner will complete a database, sign consents, develop a birth plan of care and tour the Women's Services department. Writing a birth plan helps you consider the many decisions you'll make during your labor and postpartum time at Great Plains Women's Center.
- Prepared Childbirth Class. This informative and comprehensive program discusses pregnancy, the childbirth process and terms, and baby care for you and your support person.
- Breast-feeding 101 Class. This informative session will help you make the decision regarding bottle- or breast-feeding and give you pointers for getting started.
- Tike Hike. This class teaches siblings 3-12 years of age about their roles as the older kids in the house.
Many of these classes are free of charge. Call 308-696-7397 for schedules and registration.
