Having family and friends with you can ease the stress of an ED visit, so your family and friends are welcome. Family and friends should feel free to help you with your care as appropriate per the ED physician or nurse; however, for safety reasons, only one or two visitors are permitted in the department at one time. The ED staff may ask your visitors to leave during some procedures. To respect other patients' privacy, we ask that your visitors stay at the bedside. Children must not be allowed to walk alone in the corridors or be left unattended in the waiting room. Anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed in the patient care area. Additionally, no weapons are allowed on GPRMC premises.
Code of Behavior
A code of behavior exists to insure a safe and friendly environment for patients, visitors and staff. No acts of violence, swearing, threats, or verbal abuse directed towards other patients, relatives, or staff members will be tolerated. An initial warning is given, but if the behavior continues, the staff, security, or the police will ask the person to leave.
Safeguarding your Valuables
It is best to ask a friend or relative to look after your valuables while you are being treated in the ED. The hospital will only take responsibility for items that have been formally receipted for safe keeping in the hospital safe.
