GREAT PLAINS HEART & VASCULAR CENTER PROVIDES SURGICAL SUPPORT
The Great Plains Heart & Vascular Center now provides cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgical diagnosis and follow-up care through a partnership with physicians at Bryan LGH Heart Institute in Lincoln.
As part of an outreach program, Richard Thompson, MD, and Robert Oakes, MD, both cardiothoracic surgeons, will see patients once a month in North Platte for diagnosis and surgical follow up. This saves patients significant travel to and from Lincoln for pre and post surgical visits. "This is a tremendous service for patients in North Platte and surrounding communities," explains Dr. Ali, Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services. "It augments our interventional cardiology services and brings more care closer to home."
According to Dr. Ali, patients needing bypass or valve surgeries can receive diagnosis and preparatory care at GPRMC. Then, after the surgery in Lincoln at BryanLGH, follow-up visits and additional care is provided by the BryanLGH surgeons and/or the team at Great Plains Heart & Vascular Center. Drs. Ali, Nelluri and Arteaga are pleased to offer a cardiovascular service, which is complimented with cardio thoracic surgeons.
In addition, Dr. Thompson and Dr. Oakes will consult with GPRMC pulmonologists and oncologists and provide similar procedures and follow-up care for those types of peripheral surgeries.
