There are very simple ways (with minimal effort and
paperwork) that you can designate assets for our use. These include listing us
as a beneficiary and bequests.
·
When
you name us as the beneficiary of an asset, there's no income tax charitable
deduction because you can change your mind at any time. At your death, however,
the assets will pass to us, and your estate will be eligible for an estate tax
deduction equal to the value of the gift. Examples of assets that fall under
this category are: insurance policies, bank accounts, transfer-on-death
accounts and retirement and pension benefits.
·
Another
easy form of giving is a bequest to us in your will. The tax laws encourage
bequests; consequently, a bequest is an excellent way to support our programs.
When you make a bequest to us, your taxable estate is reduced by a 100 percent
estate tax deduction for the amount of a cash bequest, or the fair market value
of property.
